Space shuttle Atlantis, sitting on the mobile launcher platform, which in turn rests on the crawler-transporter, is rolled back from Pad 39A to the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB). First motion of Atlantis' six hour journey off the pad was at 6:48 a.m. EDT on October 20, 2008. On November 11, 2008 Atlantis is de-stacked (taken off its external fuel tank and solid rocket boosters stack) and the orbiter returned to the Orbiter Processing Facility(OPF).
