Orbiting approximately 575 kilometers (360 miles) above the Earth's surface, Hubble whirls around Earth at 8 km per second or 29,000 kph (5 miles per second or 18000 mph)! Hubble completes one full orbit every 96 minutes. A road trip from Los Angeles to New York City would take only 10 minutes.
