Andy Carson
TESS Deputy Project Manager for Spacecraft

Andy Carson is the Deputy Project Manager for Spacecraft for the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) mission. His responsibilities on TESS include acting as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for the spacecraft contract. Andy has held a number of positions in the Federal Government over the past 32 years. Most recently before coming to the TESS project, Andy served as the Program Executive for the NPOESS Preparatory Project (NPP) at NASA Headquarters. NPP was the first step toward a new generation of satellites to monitor the Earth's dynamic climate and weather system.
Prior to that, Andy worked for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on the Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite (POES) and Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) programs. Andy served as the Instrument Manager for both the POES and the GOES R programs and as NOAA's manager for the U.S. sensors on EUMETSAT's Meteorological Operational (MetOp) Satellites.
Andy received a B.S. in Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology, and an M.S. in Engineering from the Catholic University of America.
