Attaching the Front-End Assembly to the Adiabatic Demagnetization Refrigerator is a long, careful process, requiring many hands. The small fan to the left of the ADR is blowing a stream of ions, to help prevent the buildup of static charge. Even a tiny zap of static can destroy the electronic components.
